MATCH 2062 - Sunday 22 March 2026

SEASON 2025/26

SCOTTISH PREMIER LEAGUE

Venue: TANNADICE PARK

DUNDEE UNITED  2  CELTIC  0

Scorers: Ferry, Agyei

Attendance: 13,228

After a non eventful first half, United quickly establish a lead early in the second half which they never looked like losing against a very average Celtic team struggling to score goals.

My seat was in the Jerry Kerr (Main) Stand which was in the area of my very first visit to Tannadice in May 1982.

SEASON 2025/26

ENGLISH FA PREMIER LEAGUE

Venue: OLD TRAFFORD

MANCHESTER UNITED  3  ASTON VILLA  1

Scorers:  Casemiro, Cunha, Sesko, Bartley

Attendance: 73,997

An early morning drive to Manchester for my first visit to Old Trafford this season. It was typical Manchester weather with heavy showers throughout the day.  My seat was excellent in the the 3rd level of the Alex Ferguson Stand.

After a goalless first 45 minutes the game burst into life in the second half with four goals and many other chances for each team.

This was an important match in the race for a top four spot and qualification to the UEFA Champions league as pre-match both sides were on 51 points and in joint 3rd place in the league.

Personal note:

  • This was the 3rd time attending this fixture - all in the league
  • This was my 65th match at Old Trafford
  • Overall it was my 84th time seeing Manchester United - 41 of them in the league
  • It was the 6th time seeing Aston Villa (5 in the league)

MATCH 2060 - Saturday 14 March 2026

SEASON - 2025/26

SCOTTISH PREMIER LEAGUE

Venue: CELTIC PARK

CELTIC  3  MOTHERWELL  1

Scorers: Yang(2), Cvancara;  Just

Motherwell opened the scoring but Celtic managed to get level before half time.  The result was decided on a big VAR call in the second half when Celtic were awarded a penalty and due to the nature of the foul - a grab rather than a challenge in the box - a red card was given and Motherwell were reduced to 10 men.  In full view of the referee who failed to see such a significant incident.

Yang - the games MVP - with 2 goals

SCOTTISH CUP Quarter Final

AET - Celtic win 4-2 on penalties
Attendance: 50,000

Celtic, depleted by long term and short term injuries, defend with their lives for 120 minutes to take the Scottish Cup tie to penalties.  Throughout the match they lacked quality to take the game to the home side but in contrast they coolly slotted home their four penalties to reach the semi final.

The aftermath

This was my first visit to Ibrox in 12 years and the first with Celtic since 2003.
