MATCH 1997 - Thursday 23rd January 2025

 SEASON 2024/25

         Group Match

MANCHESTER UNITED  2  RANGERS*  1

Scorers: OG, Fernandes;  Dessers

In a match United should've won comfortably they had to settle for a last gasp goal give them a narrow victory over a depleted Ibrox side.  Just as the away fans thought they had achieved a memorable away European result Bruno Fernandes snatched it away from them with the last meaningful kick of the game to spark interesting scenes around the ground.

Unfortunately United are way short of the great United sides of the past, so it was two very ordinary teams that took to the field however at least they provided an exciting ending.

MATCH 1996 - Wednesday 22 January 2025

SEASON 2024/25

Group Stage

CELTIC  1  YOUNG BOYS BERNE  0
Scorer:  OG

Celtic facing the team at the botton of the new UEFA Champions League format were expected to win comfortably however a combination of very good goalkeeping and VAR kept the scoreline at 0-0 until the final 5 minutes of the match when it was decided by an Own Goal.

Marvin Keller (YB) made a series of saves throughout the game including a first half penalty and Kasper Schmeichel of Celtic made a very important double save in the second half.

In the first half Celtic had the ball in the net three times only for VAR to rule all of them out.

History repeated itself as the match produced the same scoreline and "scorer" as the match between the clubs in 1993.

A fantastic touch (below) from Young Boys fans to a small Celtic fan at the end of the game:

SEASON 2024/25

SCOTTISH CUP 4th Round

Venue:  CELTIC PARK

CELTIC  2  KILMARNOCK  1

Scorers:  McGregor, Maeda;  Wales

Celtic created chances after chance but had only one goal in each half to show for all their efforts on goal.  While Kilmarnock scored with their only effort inside the box at the end of the first half that kept the cup tie alive right to the end of the match.

SEASON 2024/25

SCOTTISH PREMIER LEAGUE

Venue:  VICTORIA PARK STADIUM

ROSS COUNTY  1  CELTIC  4

Scorers: White;  Kyogo(2), Engels, McCowan

My 7th trip to Dingwall for Ross County away fixture.  One of the coldest football matches I've ever been too. Very surprising that the early kick off (12:30pm) was never in doubt despite tempertures of -10c. Thankfully the game was good and warmed us up a little.

The trip was off to a bad start on Friday evening when the bus from Perth to Inverness was 90 minutes late.  No problems with the train to Dingwall on Saturday morning and although small delays to both train and bus on the way back home, the return journey was fairly straightforward.

Close to the action today - row 2

Celtic's first win of 2025 and after the first goal scored in the 33rd minute and a second quickly added before halftime.
