My 100th Hibernian match which starts very well for the home side however a stunning second half performance by Celtic inspired by James Forrest who scores two excellent goals and eventually runs the home side ragged.    My bhoys and me head up on the new train service to Waverley Train Station.  Although quite a walk to Easter Road it was a very enjoyable night, helped by a great score for Celtic.

Focus on CARLISLE UNITED F.C.

I have now been to 15 Carlisle United matches all at their home ground of Brunton Park. The first trip down was a cold midweek game in February 1997 against Scarborough along with my mate Pat Close and his work colleague who drove, both claimed to be Scarborough fans thereforenwe watched from the visitors section of the old Main Stand.

A few years later I went by train to see their biggest FA Cup tie in years against Arsenal.

Since 2006 I have been going a few times a season with my son, Daniel and on a few ocassions with the whole family (wife, Teresa included) as they offer the opportunity to see some of the fallen names (if not giants) of the English game like Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich and Southampton.
There have been a number of interesting personalities in the away dug out including Arsenal's long serving manager, Arsene Wenger, Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet with Leeds United, Roberto Martinez (Swansea). Alan Pardew (Southampton) and ex-Celt Paul Lambert (Norwich) all of whom are current managers in the Premiership. With the biggest name of all being John Barnes ex-Liverpool star but managerial flop. Recently Gary Megson (Sheff. Wed) and former Manchester City striker from Germany Uwe Rosler.

English League Division One
Venue:  BRUNTON PARK

CARLISLE UNITED     2   BRENTFORD   2

Match 1432 - Sunday, 2nd October 2011

English FA Premiership
Venue: REEBOK STADIUM

3rd game in four days.  This time I take Paul to see Chelsea.  Great performance form Daniel Sturridge and Frank Lampard as bottom of the table Bolton can't cope with Chelsea's attacking power.

Match 1431 - Saturday, 1st October 2011

English Championship
Venue: BLOOMFIELD STADIUM

BLACKPOOL  5  BRISTOL CITY 0

First time seeing Bristol City and Blackpool give them a right good beating.  Along with Daniel we meet big Seasider's fan Lisa (and little Sophie) and watch the second half with them as the goals fly in.

UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE - Group Match:

A little bonus after getting knocked out by FC Sion, Celtic are included in the Group Stages due to some rules being broken.  A tale of two penalties - one right at the begining for Celtic and one right at the end for Udinese.

First visit to York's ground.  Decent little ground for a lower league/Conference club. Having booked a holiday home in Bridlington for the week it was a great little bonus to include this match in our stay.  I went along with my son who is the Sunderland fan.  There was a great travelling support from the North East.   It was an alright game by pre-season standards.
